Yes, you could probably try any craft store. I would also just start front door to the first room, second, etc, and end with the back. The craft stores I would aim for first would probably be Hobby Lobby or Joannes.
Okay, I have a few answers for you. I made my daughter a small doll house and I made twig furniture. Me and my 6 yr. old son went out and looked for little twigs. (so it was fun for him too) I glued them together to make different peices of furniture. I then painted them. Or some I sanded and just stained. You know those plastic things they put in the middle of a pizza so the cheese doesn’t stick to the box? I used them for end tables, night stands, added a back for chairs, stools, etc… Just look around your house for things to use. If you don’t really feel like doing that then I suggest you go to a hobby store or a store that sells all the old toys from when we were young. I found one in Ohio. Very pricey though. You will be amazed at how beautiful the Twig Furniture will turn out once you’re done. Give it a try. Use Elmer’s Glue if you try this out. Elmers glue is the toughest glue to use when it comes to wood. Stronger than nails!! Seriously.
I have made plenty of things for my daughter that I’ve found around the house.
1. Blocks of wood can be chairs, a couch or a bed if you glue a heavy duty piece of cardboard on one side.
2. Cut boxes close to the bottom to make a bathtub, bed, tables, dressers, cabinets, stove, refrigerator.
3. Stove Example: I took a small cup cake box and painted it white. I glued black buttons on the top for burners and painted dots for the dials and a black window for the door of the oven.
4. I used carpet samples because they are cheap to purchase.
5. Old washrags are nice blankets or curtains.
6. Cardboard egg cartons – cut the cups off and turn into planters.
7. If you buy big jugs of laundry soap – cut the top off and it can be a pool.
8. A big plastic bottle can be turned into a shower.
There’s lots more but I hope this helps.
